23 Feb 2010 – Pernec has participated in Amax City launching at Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil as the local manufacturing company providing MIMOS WiWi Access Point for Amax City. The launching was officiated by YB. Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim and among the VVIP present were Tan Sri Khalid Ramli, Chairman of MCMC, Datuk Abdul Ghani Abdullah, Chairman of Asiaspace, Dato’ Azman Shahidin, CEO of TPM and Dato’ Abdul Wahab, CEO of MIMOS.

Pernec involvement in WiMAX area is not new since we have been awarding with the technology by MIMOS since last year and we are doing a few WiWi POC with WiMAX operator in Malaysia. The WiWi CPE devices for the POC have been manufactured by its subsidiary, Pernec Advanced Network Sdn Bhd (PAN) in Tikam Batu, Kedah. PAN was established in the 80’s with help of NEC Corporation for the manufacturing and assembly of the NEC PSTN components and system.

The aim of the participation is to put a showcase on Pernec involvements with MIMOS and re-establishing PAN as the local telecommunication manufacturing company. In relation to Amax City launching, Pernec is providing Asiaspace with the WiWi devices and Engineering Services that cover all aspect including survey, installation, testing, commissioning and after sales support.
